From Humble Beginnings to Lifelong Impact

Dan Van Meter began his career in technology in 1971, shortly after completing his service in the United States Air Force. What started as hands-on technical work in Hebron, Kentucky—often operating out of the back of a small local building—was the beginning of a lifelong commitment to problem-solving, craftsmanship, and teaching others how to do the work the right way.

By the early 1980s, Dan’s experience led to projects across the country. In 1982, he participated in an installation associated with President Ronald Reagan on the West Coast—an example of how far his technical expertise had carried him. Even then, Dan remained focused on teaching, mentoring, and building capable teams, often with Chris close by, absorbing not just technical knowledge but leadership by example.

Over time, the lessons Dan passed to Chris extended beyond tools and systems. They became principles: preparation matters, shortcuts create problems, and your reputation is built one job at a time. Those values—formed during long days, job sites, and quiet explanations—continue through Chris today, not as a continuation of a company or era, but as the continuation of a mindset shaped directly by his father.
